The goal of Idaho Renaissance Faire Inc is to provide a safe and fun environment for our actors, performers, crafters, and artists to showcase their talents; build a community for local artists and performers, and to fulfill our donation goal of giving back to at least one art or theatre program in and around the Treasure Valley.
Yes. IRFI is a 501c3 non-profit organization with the mission of giving back to art and theatre programs in and around the Treasure Valley.
No. As our mission states that we will give to art and theatre programs, it does not align with our goals to give to STEM programs.
We chose the Italian Renaissance period because no one on the western half of the USA was doing it. We wanted to be at the start of the renaissance time period and have a greater focus on the history, as well as not wanting to compete with the Royalty options that were and are already existing at other Faires.
IRFI currently holds three main events per year. Skal in January, Beltane Fantast Festival in May, and The Idaho Renaissance Faire in October. We also hold smaller, more curated events between these main three. ie, dances, fundraisers, etc.
We are much closer and farther away than any of us want. But we are working on getting there. We estimate that in another year or so we should be there.
All applications, both vendor and entertainer, open at the same time for the entire year. We have moved away from the 4-month cycle of applications only being open just before each event. All applications for the year currently open early the fall before.
No. IRFI vendor applications have always been on a first come, first served basis. This allows more variety in the vendor options. It also provides IRFI with a clearer picture of who is paying attention.
Vendors are selected based on category. Once any given category fills up, all remaining vendors of that type, get added to a wait list. Should a selected vendor drop for any reason, the next vendor on the wait list is moved up.
IRFI Does not place a restriction on what artists can bring to the event to sell. We do have a vetting process and prioritize hand done artwork over computer generated models, but many artists will use AI on works they created themselves to produce stickers, magnets, or other similar merchandise. Because of this we have elected to not ban such tools from use for our events.
No. Coming in a costume can enhance your experience of being at a Renaissance Faire, but we recognize that many people cannot afford to build, or have built, a costume to fit every event theme. You can come in jeans and a t-shirt, as an away team from the enterprise, a Mandalorian, a knight, a princess, or anything else that you can find, or not, as the case may be.
